"We bought A Zoo" Movie - Drawing a map of the zoo!

On his birthday in late 2010 illustrator Patrick Janicke was commissioned by production designer Clay Griffith to draw a large map of a zoo which will be featured in the movie "We bought a zoo". The zoo was built full scale in one of Los Angeles' most beautiful valleys where for years already Patrick Janicke and his friends spent their weekends motorbiking. He stated: "Having to visit the site to then draw the area with a finished zoo in it was one of those dream jobs where I just wanted to pinch myself". This pencil drawing by Patrick Janicke is over 40 inches wide and was later colored in by the man himself. Words and graphics by Clint Schultz eventually gave the map its final touch.
